Richard Wayne Anthony, 84, of Amarillo, TX passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, November 25, 2019 at the VA Community Living Center in Amarillo.

Richard was born in Helena, OK on September 27, 1935. He was the son of the late Cash Wayne and Mildred Anthony. He is survived by his wife, Mildred; and his two children, his son, Russell and wife Christy, and daughter, Rhonda Case and husband Kevin; his three grandchildren, Quinn Anthony, Currie Case, and McKenna Case. He is also survived by special family members, Eddy Baggerman and his wife Socorro, their son Adam Baggerman, and grandson Ryan; two sisters Judy Thorp and her husband Cecil, and Lillian Blakesley and lots of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Wesley Anthony, two sisters Barbara Powers, and Cashsandra Shields.

Richard graduated from high school in Helena, OK and served in the Army from 1954-1958. He married his wife Mildred in May 1959 in Enid, OK. They had just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. They had lived in Helena Enid, and Moore, OK before moving to Amarillo, TX in 1969 where they raised their two children.

Richard worked as a diesel mechanic until he retired. There will be a celebration of life at Boxwell Brothers on December 14, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation to a favorite charity. His family would also like to thank the doctors, nurses and caregivers at the Community Living Center at the VA in Amarillo, TX.

  1. Sending prayers to all the Russell Family. I remember Richard as a young girl racing BMX and he was one who made an impact on my life. He scared the heck out of me, but was also was one of the first to give me a hug or a praise after a good race. Hugs to you all. Richard will be missed by so many.
