Richard Dale Eddleman, age 86, of Amarillo, Texas passed on November 1, 2020, surrounded by his family.

Richard was born August 20, 1934, to Bruce and Helen Eddleman in Turkey, Texas.  He graduated from Quitaque High School and received his Bachelor’s degree from West Texas State University and his Master’s degree from Northwestern Oklahoma State University.  Richard married his wife, Gay Lynn Callaway of 59 years on May 26, 1961.  He was a teacher and coach for 31 years and influenced many lives over that period of time. Coach Eddleman relished and cherished acts of kindness and associations in later life with former players and students.  Richard began his teaching career in Idalou, Texas in 1961. He also taught and coached at Abernathy, Lockney, Groom, Horace Mann Junior High, Caprock High School, Canyon High School, and finished his career at Randall High School.  He served in the Marine Corps for three years.  Richard was a faithful servant of the Lord who worshipped and served as an Elder for many years at Anna Street Church of Christ.  He was a member of Gideons International and would hand out Bible’s to students at local high schools. It was common place that someone would recognize him regardless of where he went and he reveled in talking with each of them. One of his pleasures for decades was spending time sharing a cup of coffee with “the coffee crew”.

Richard loved and cherished his family and is survived by his wife Gay Lynn, sons Kyde (Sonja) and Koy (Kelly).  Richard had five grandchildren; Kelby, Kelsey (David), Kaleb (Brittany), Kalvin, Katherine, and three great-grandchildren. He is survived by one brother Randal and was preceded in death by one sister Thelma Waters.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, November 5, 2020, at 10:00 A.M., at Llano East Cemetery. Viewing will be available from 8:00 A.M.-8:00 P.M., Wednesday, November 4, 2020, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, Amarillo.
