Reita Gimpel, 64, of Amarillo died on Saturday, June 4, 2011.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Washington Avenue Christian Church with Pastor Jim Shelburne and Albert Maggard officiating. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Reita was born on August 9, 1946 in Boise City, Oklahoma. She lived in various locations throughout Oklahoma, New Mexico and the Texas Panhandle, during the ministry of her mother. She fought a long and valiant battle with breast cancer after her diagnosis in 1997. Her courage and optimism, along with her absolute faith in God’s will, were a true inspiration to those around her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Alvoy Kersey, mother, Louva Kersey and a brother, Jim Kersey.
Survivors include her sons, Dewayne Gimpel and wife Allison of Plano, Texas and Dallas Gimpel and wife Carrie of Amarillo; a sister, Alva Walker and husband Donald of Amistad, New Mexico; a brother, Dale Kersey and wife Ellen of Tryon, Oklahoma, a sister, Glenna Stallo and husband Jerry of Lorraine, Kansas; and five grandchildren, Nathan, Nolan, Lindsie, Kristin and Shannon.
