Reda Maxine Houseman – January 12, 2015

Houseman Obit PicReda Maxine Houseman, 91, of Amarillo, died Monday, Jan.12, 2015.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, Jan. 16, 2015, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel.  Burial will follow at Llano Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Maxine was born May 8, 1923, in Wildorado to Ira and Mary Hutchens.  She married Charles Houseman on Dec. 24, 1942, in Vega.  The family made their home in Amarillo.  They were proud parents of two sons and a daughter, Lewis Houseman of Amarillo, Chuck Houseman and wife Marti of Pampa and Reda Tipton and husband Jim of Amarillo, three grandchildren, Rodney Duffy and wife Sheranna of Oklahoma City, Kelli Heatley and husband Bryan of Amarillo, Amy Wills and husband Floyd of Amarillo, four great-grandchildren, Austin Duffy and wife Amanda, Ashley Duffy, Dallas Rose and Cole Davis.  She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and they loved their NaNaw very much.  Most of all she loved her husband Charles of 72 years with all her heart.  She loved to travel and her and Charles took many trips together, her most favorite places were the mountains of Colorado and New Mexico.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her brother, Ira Mabe; her sister, Laverne; and her stepmother, Estelle Hutchens.

Survivors include her husband, Charles; sons, Lewis and Chuck; and daughter, Reda.

The family would like to thank BSA Hospice staff and the nurses and staff of Ussery-Roan Texas Veterans Nursing Home for the wonderful care they have provided.

  1. I am sorry for the loss of your mother. Chuck, you and I went through basic training together. I worked at FNB with you Lewis. Your mother did a good job with you.
