Raymond A. Fickel, 94, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, in St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church Children’s Chapel with the Rev. Jo Roberts Mann, rector, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mr. Fickel was born March 12, 1918, in Dallas, to Lawrence and Cora Tempero Fickel. He graduated from the University of Tulsa in 1946 and became a petroleum geologist, working on projects in Texas and a number of other states throughout his career. Mr. Fickel served in the Merchant Marines during WWII. He married Elizabeth Kyser in Houston on Sept. 28, 1946. They settled in Amarillo in 1954. He was a devoted husband and father, and an active member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church. He also enjoyed the outdoors, music, photography, and flying.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Fickel, of Amarillo; and a daughter, Jacqueline Fickel of Santa Monica, CA.
The family suggests memorials to a favorite charity of choice.
