Randy Tupin, 67, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, January 7, 2020.

Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 18, 2020, in First Presbyterian Church with Paul Frederiksen and Dr. Murray Gossett officiating.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd., Amarillo.

A lifelong resident of Amarillo, Randy graduated from Palo Duro HS in 1970.  As a young lad, he worked at his Uncle’s racetrack, Amarillo Speedbowl.  He developed a fascination with racing and anything to do with Formula 1.

As a teen, Randy found the love of music and taught himself keyboard.  Playing in many bands, one of which was the first to play at the Civic Center.  Randy soon found himself working at Billy’s Band-Aid, and eventually went on to own his own music store, Randy’s Music Mart.  Through this he met, and worked with many amazing and talented musicians.  Randy was always willing to help out a band if a minor crisis happened during a performance.  Randy was active in his Community.  He helped establish the first Polk Street Block Party, participated in Special Olympics, Make a Wish, and Friends of Fogelberg, to name a few.  Randy loved music, Amarillo and his First Presbyterian Bible Study group.  God granted Randy an extraordinary life on earth with many wonderful friends and family.  Now he is in the loving arms of our Lord forever.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Jr. & Bettie (Elkins) Tupin, Nephew Arthur (Butch) Tupin, Jr.

He is survived by his wife Kim Tupin, stepson Ethan Grubb, his brother Arthur Tupin Sr. & wife Charla. Scott Tupin, Lynette Perry, Loretta and Michele Tupin, Pete Elkins, Mike & Debbie Burleson, Earlene and Ralph Whitney, numerous loving cousins and great nieces and nephews.

Family suggests memorials be sent to First Presbyterian.

  1. Randy you are a beautiful soul so glad i got to see you before I moved! I will cherish your stories and the good memories! Thank you for giving me the spark to play guitar. I remember when i was 16 I walked into randys music mart and needed a amp to play..randy let me take home a halfstack to try out..no questions asked no down payment just let me take it home..when i did i fell in love with the sound and feel of music. Later on I would come visit Randy and will always cherish our conversations about music and racing a true genuine soul. Forever Grateful for you Randy! Much love! Soar high my friend!

  2. Going to miss you Brother😢 RIP my friend. You were always nice and accommodating to me. You respected my talent and Career and I had mutual respect for you. God is your Band leader now just like he was here on earth. Bless your family ,Kim and the rest.
