Ralph Edward Bates, 56, of Amarillo, died Friday, October 4, 2019.
A celebration of life will be at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 7, 2019 at his residence, 4614 S. Travis St. with Charles Toines officiating.
Ralph was born on August 16, 1963 in Cape May Court House, NJ to Gladys and Ralph Bates, Jr. He married Elizabeth Ann Bishop on June 2, 1990 in Stuart, Florida. Ralph was a stucco plasterer in Florida before moving to Amarillo in 1994. After moving here, he worked for a number of years as a journeyman plumber and general handyman. He could fix anything!
Ralph loved to ride his Harley. He was also an avid fisherman and often talked about the little one that got away.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, David and Craig and sisters, Alberta and Deborah.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Bates, of Amarillo; son, Stephen Bates (Pam) of Stuart, FL; two sisters, Elinor Bolli (Scott) of Little River, SC and Denise Glennon (John) of Danville, AL; a brother, Timothy Gittle (Rachel) of Conway, SC; and three grandchildren, Patricia, Rachel and Jasmine; and many nieces nephews.
He also leaves to cherish his memory a special sister and brother-in-law, Gina and Michael Westbrook.
