Nick Vigil – January 28, 2012

Nick Vigil, 73, of Amarillo died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with the Rev. Jack Johnson, pastor of New Jerusalem Baptist Church, officiating.
Nick was born Sept. 15, 1938, in Clovis, N.M., to Henry and Apolonia Vigil. He married Mary Armstrong on Aug. 14, 1981, in Amarillo.
Nick worked for Pantex for 41 years, where he was a machinist. He was a member of the Army Reserves for 14 years and was a MP during his service in the Army.
Nick loved the outdoors, spending his time on his tractor and enjoyed collecting things. He loved his family and enjoyed the holidays with everyone around him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Nicomedes Jr.; a brother; and three sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; seven daughters, Irene Resendez and James, Sophie Essary, Michelle Placio and husband Vincent, and Monica Cepriano, all of Dallas, and Donna Anderson, Tammy Albino and husband Orlando and Rena Nabors and husband Gary, all of Amarillo; a son, Aaron Smith of Amarillo; 21 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
