Michael Wayne Hunter, 60, of Amarillo, died Saturday, February 18, 2012.
Memorial services will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012 in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Bruce Ridling officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mr. Hunter was born on July 30, 1951 in Amarillo, Texas to Elva and Hollis Hunter. He graduated from Palo Duro High in 1969; played football at Texas Tech; and continued his studies at Wayland Baptist where he earned a bachelors in business and theology.
He loved the outdoors and taking his boys on vacation to the Broadmoor Hotel. He loved to cook and was a devoted Amarillo baseball fan from the original Gold Sox to the Dillas. He was a gifted musician and loved genealogy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Brian.
He is survived by three sons, Joe Bob Hunter of Jacksonville, FL; Jess Wayne Hunter and John Michael Hunter, of Amarillo; two sisters, Denise Hirsch of Amarillo and Holly Craven and husband Doug of Canyon; a brother, Danny Hunter of Amarillo; the mother of his boys, Gerry Ingram of Vega; and numerous nieces and nephews.
