Melma Dee (Chandler) Adams – May 14, 2012

Melma Dee (Chandler) Adams, 97, of Amarillo, died Monday, May 14, 2012.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 18, 2012 in the Craddock Funeral Home Chapel, 525 S. Commerce Street in Ardmore, Oklahoma.  She will be laid to rest beside her sweetheart in Rose Hill Cemetery in Ardmore.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Melma was born in Simpson, Oklahoma on June 2, 1914 to Burnett (Wadkins) and William Thomas Shelton and went to be with the Lord on May 14, 2012.  Melma married Edgar Adams on October 27, 1934, in Ardmore.  To this union two daughters were born, Joy and Floye.
Melma accepted the Lord and was a member of the Church of Christ.
She and Edgar farmed and ranched at Springer, Wilson and Milo, Oklahoma before moving to Flomot, Texas in 1947 to continue farming until 1952 when they moved to Amarillo, Texas.
Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar, in 1954, her mother, Burnett, in 1918, her daddy, W.T. Shelton in 1965 and her momma Lillian Shelton in 1977.  Other preceding her in death are twin great-grandsons in 1986 and a very special son-in-law, Billy Fred Lacy in 1997.  Also preceding her in death were her brothers, Woodrow, Worley, Wayne, W.T. (Dib), Jesse Paul, and Willie (Biddie), and her sisters, Izora, Leona and Betty Jo (Tootsie).
Mrs. Adams is survived by her daughters, Joy Lacy and Vinita Floye and husband Guss Hrncir, all of Amarillo, Texas; grandchildren, Sheri and husband Rob Gibson of Farmers Branch, Texas and their children, Cameron, Ciara and Forrest; Clay Gibson of Amarillo and his children, Justin and Charly; Brent Lacy and wife Karin of Amarillo; great-great-grandchildren, Devine, Draegan and Jayden.  Other survivors are sisters, Emogene Carter of Denton, Texas, Anna Belle and husband Ray Sheehy and Bessie Marie Elliott, all of Ardmore, Oklahoma; four sisters-in-law, Ann Shelton, Betty Shelton, Patty Shelton and Shirley Shelton; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., Thursday, May 17, 2012 at the Craddock Funeral Home in Ardmore.
