Mary Kate Tripp – December 5, 2012


Mary Kate Tripp, 95, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Dr. Murray Gossett, associate pastor of First Presbyterian Church officiating.  Burial will be in Llano Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mrs. Tripp was born July 29, 1917, in Wheatland to Henry and Alta Brotherton.  She was the long time book editor at the Amarillo Globe News.  She married Fred Tripp on Oct. 21, 1953. He preceded her in death in 1976.
Survivors include a sister, Barbara Jane Fortenberry of Amarillo; a nephew, Oliver Joe Fortenberry of Amarillo; five nieces, Trish Hill and husband Kirk, Mary Tull, and Beck Baucom, all of Amarillo, Sally Nibbelink and husband Dan of Berthoud, Colorado, and Kathy Kappelman and husband “Kap” of Oklahoma City; two great-nieces, Jenici Hill of Ft. Collins, Colorado and Kalin Hill of Houston; three great-nephews, Juruseh Hill of Ft. Collins, Kole Hill of Durango, Colorado and Jorian Brown of Springfield, Missouri; and a great-great-niece, Melissa Goldman of New Jersey.
The family suggests memorials be to Opportunity School, 1100 S Harrison St Amarillo, TX 79101; or to Presbyterian Children’s Home, 3400 Bowie Street Amarillo, TX 79109.
