Mary “Evelyn” Riedt, 77, of Amarillo, TX died Thursday, Sept. 5, 2019.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, Sept. 9, 2019, at First Christian Church with Dr. Mark Bender and J Alexander officiating.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Evelyn was born Aug. 22, 1942, in Pauls Valley, OK to Ray and Mary Cochran.   She earned a Bachelor’s degree from East Central University in Oklahoma.  She taught school at Paramount Terrace.

She married Harvest Riedt on June 27, 1964, in Pauls Valley, OK.

Evelyn was an active member First Christian Church and the non-denominational Bible study.  She also had been an active member of Church Women United, Beta Sigma Phi, Kappa Kappa Iota, the Fellowship Sunday school class at First Christian Church, and a Bunko group.

She is survived by her husband, Harvest Riedt, of Amarillo; a daughter, Judy Callahan and husband Bob, of Arlington, TX; a son, Kyle Riedt and wife Jamie, of Iowa Park, TX; a sister, Janice Dulin and husband Joe, of Glen Pool, OK; two grandchildren, Brock Riedt and wife Britni, and Kyley Riedt; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family gives special thanks to Donice and Jerry Ray, and the many friends and family for their care.  She will be missed greatly by her Schnauzers, Mack and Millie.

The family suggests memorials to the Music Scholarship Fund at First Christian Church; or a favorite charity.

  1. I was honored to be a friend of Evelyn’s. I met her and Harvest through their daughter, Judy. She is so loved by her family, and will be truly missed. Words are not enough, so I am sending prayers, all my love, Gail

  2. Prayers!!! I never had her as a teacher but went to Paramount Terrace as a child and knew her from school. I always remember her as a sweet and caring teacher! ❤️

  3. What special memories of our girls growing up together and playing Kids Inc. Talks of teaching and finally Thursday Bible Study. She will be greatly missed.

  4. Evelyn and I have been best friends since age 6. I have so many good memories like riding pigs on her farm in Paul’s Valley, riding the bus to her house after school, learning to drive on a tractor. Evelyn is my role model for kindness, loyalty, sense of humor and how to be a best friend. She loved her family more than anything. She will always be in my heart. All my love to Harve, Judy and Kyle.

  5. My heart breaks for all of you as I know Evelyn was beloved. She was like another mother to me — she loved me and welcomed me into her home at a time I needed it the most. For her, Harve, Judy and Kyle – I will be forever grateful.

  7. Sympathy to you and family members in the loss of Evelyn. I have such good memories of her during our teaching years at Paramount Terrace. She always had that special smile and was a friendly person to all. She will be missed.
