Mary E. Shields – February 22, 2012

Mary E. Shields, 80, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012 in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Jerry Klein and Loran Harper, minister of Comanche Trail Church of Christ officiating.  Private burial will be at Llano Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mrs. Shields was born Dec. 25, 1931 in Abra to Cecil and Mary Ruth Amerson.  She married Jack Shields on June 24, 1950 in Twitty.  Mrs. Shields was one of the first teachers aid hired by AISD.  She had been a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader; she loved quilting, and had been a lifetime member of PTA.  She was a member of Comanche Trial Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Jack Shields, of the home; a daughter, Janis Beauregard of Amarillo; a son, Jackie Shields and wife Carolyn of Tulare, CA; two grandchildren, B.J. Blackmon and wife Tessa of Amarillo and Deana Edwards and husband Terry of Muleshoe; and two great-grandsons, Ian Edwards and Hunter Blackmon.
The family suggests memorials be to Comanche Trail Church of Christ Benevolent Fund, 2700 Southeast 34th Ave., Amarillo, TX 79103.
