Marvin Baker – April 2, 2011

Marvin Baker, 75, of Amarillo, died Saturday, April 2, 2011.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in Fairlane Church of Christ with Ira Purdy officiating.  Burial will be in Llano Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mr. Baker was born on July 11, 1935 in Donley County, Texas to Gertrude and Joe Baker.  He had worked at Willborn Brothers for 43 years as a shop foreman and then he worked until retirement for his brother at B & B Fleet Maintenance.
He was an elder and member of Fairlane Church of Christ.
Marvin married Frances Robertson on July 20, 1962 in Amarillo.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Baker, of Amarillo; two daughters, Nancy Leonard and husband Danny of Clarksville, TN and Clarissa Baker of Amarillo; three sons, Marvin Baker, Jr. and wife Leslie of Corinth, TX; Theron Baker and wife Brenda of Borger, TX; Billy Baker and wife Jennifer of Amarillo; one brother, Joe Baker III and wife Leella of Amarillo; three sisters, Dorothy Furrh and husband Billy of Amarillo; Dora Richmond and husband J. D. of Palisade, CO; Lena Kaczmarczyk and husband Dave of Amarillo; and grandchildren, Sarah, Kyla, Emily, Joshua, Megan, Kristen, Hannah, Sophie, Jarred and Brandon.
The family would also like to extend sincere gratitude to Dr. Phillip Perimen, Dr. Jon Caldwell, Dr. Michael Wilkerson, Dr. John Gwozdz and the staff of Texas Oncology.  Their kindness, generosity, and dedication are greatly appreciated.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and suggests memorials to Panhandle Cancer Cure Foundation, c/o Texas Oncology, 1000 S. Coulter St., Amarillo, TX 79106.
