Martha Kate Dryden – February 4, 2012

Martha Kate Dryden, 85, of Amarillo, died Saturday, February 4, 2012.
Memorial service will be at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday in Polk Street United Methodist Church with Dr. Burt Palmer, senior pastor and Kevin Deckard, associate pastor officiating.  Private burial will be in Llano Cemetery.   Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. 
 Martha was born on November 11, 1926 in Dalhart, Texas to Fred Franklin Atkinson and Hazel Marguerite Wiley Atkinson.
 She married George Robert Dryden on October 4, 1946 in Tucumcari, New Mexico.
 She earned her Real Estate license in 1965 and worked for Ruth Colvin and Ada Glen.
She then earned her Broker’s License and opened Colonial Realtors with Pearl Thompson which then merged into Creative Home Brokers. 
 She enjoyed traveling with her husband G. R. “Bob” Dryden on the many Amarillo Hardware trips.
She was a master at sewing, quilting, knitting and needlepoint, and spent many a happy hour creating beautiful items for loved ones. Martha took great pleasure in cooking a lovely meal and enjoying it with her family, making the kitchen her favorite room in the house.
Martha was preceded in death by brothers, George Wiley Atkinson; Fred Franklin Atkinson, Jr. and James Robert Atkinson; her husband; and son-in-law, James Baldridge. 
She is survived by Kathy Camile Dryden Potter and husband Wendell of San Antonio; Bobbie Jean Baldridge of El Paso;  John Lann Dryden and wife Kathy; Randall Logan Dryden and wife Robin, all of Amarillo;  grandchildren, Kara and Carlos Elizondo of San Antonio; Ryan and Dr. Shannon Potter of St. Louis, Mo; Logan Dryden of Dallas; Callie and William Holton of Amarillo; Randall Dryden of Stillwater, Oklahoma; Kathryn and Craig Smith of Orangeburg, South Carolina; and Matthew Dryden of Amarillo; and great-granddaughter,  Karla Elizondo.
The family would like to give special thanks to her caregivers: Doris Nays and Donita Wiiliams-Terry and suggests in lieu of flowers to Polk St. United Methodist Church Building Fund, 1401 S. Polk St., Amarillo, TX 79101.
