Marjorie Matsler Miller – April 23, 2012

Marjorie Matsler Miller died early Monday morning, April 23, 2012, in Austin, Texas, where she has lived for two years.   On April 12, 2012, she celebrated her 92nd birthday with balloons and Italian cream cake.
On Wednesday, April 25, 2012, please join the family at 2:30 PM at Llano Cemetery to celebrate Marjorie’s life.  An organ recital will follow at 3:15 PM at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church with organist Margaret Lacy.  All are welcome.   Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
In 2007, Marjorie and Don Miller joyously celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary at Emeritus (previously known as Seville Estates) with live music and a little dancing.  Together they built from the 1940s their family business, Miller Radiator—a customer-focused business that they sold in the 1990s.
Her life was full of activity, fun, seriousness, laughter, and strong opinions.  She loved Polk Street Methodist Church, PEO, art, oil painting, square dancing, music, flower gardens, entertaining, and  the ever-present beauty of the world.   She served as a member of the 1937 all-state  women’s basketball team—where she received recognition as an outstanding guard.  Fifty years later her team reunited in celebration in Amarillo.
She was the daughter of Annie and Alvin Matsler, one of seven children. She is the last surviving child of that marriage.  Marjorie’s surviving family include daughter, Flo Ann Randle of Austin, and daughter-in-law Donna Banister Miller of Amarillo (surviving spouse of son DeWayne Miller).  Marjorie’s five grandchildren with wonderful spouses –Kelly, Sergio, Aimee, Jessica, and Mike–are Tim Randle, Claire Randle Martinez, and Greg Randle of Austin, Texas, and D. Miller of Paris, France, and McCalle Miller of Houston, Texas.
