Maria Elia Garcia, 70, of Amarillo, TX died Wednesday, October 2, 2019.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 5, 2019, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Burial will be in Llano East Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Maria was born June 20, 1949, in Matehuala, San Luis Potosi, Mexico. She had worked at Levi Strauss in Littlefield, TX. She had also worked for Deaf Smith General Hospital as a housekeeper, and for Paradise Cushion in Amarillo.
Maria enjoyed singing, was a member of Tierra Santa Church, and enjoyed teaching Sunday school. She loved to go see the cross in Groom following Sunday school. She would take mission trips to the orphanages in Mexico. She also enjoyed walks in the park, taking drives, and traveling. Maria loved spending time with her grandchildren. Maria loved listening to Christian music and listening to sermons on television.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Alfredo and Eusebio Puente.
Survivors include three sons, Jesse Banda, Demesio Banda, and Ismael Garcia, all of Amarillo; two daughters, Adelita Elam and husband Brad, of Clarendon, TX, and Ernestina Garcia, of Amarillo; a brother, Juan and Mary Puente, of Hereford, TX; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
