Marguerite Kemp Kenyon – July 3, 2012


Marguerite Kemp Kenyon, 93, of Amarillo died, Tuesday, July 3, 2012.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 21, 2012, in Memorial Park Cemetery in Amarillo with the Rev. Paul Pinkston officiating.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Marguerite was born in Sylvester, Texas, March 1, 1919, to Oscar H. Kemp and Ella Robertson Kemp.
She was valedictorian of her high school class and attended Texas State College for Women, now Texas Woman’s University in Denton.  She married Edward Kenyon in 1940 in Abilene.
Marguerite was a member of San Jacinto Baptist Church in Amarillo since moving to Amarillo in 1945.  She was a passionate volunteer in the People’s Church mission and food ministry for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a brother, Harvey Kemp; and a sister, Mary Ruth Hamlin.
Survivors include a son, Kemp Kenyon and wife Debbie; a granddaughter, Erin Covert and husband Michael of Dallas; and a grandson, Andrew Kenyon of Amarillo.
The family suggests memorials to the Presbyterian Home for Children in Amarillo, 3400 Bowie Street, Amarillo, TX 79109.
