Margaret Jane Callahan – January 20, 2012

Margaret Jane Callahan, 88, of Amarillo, died Friday, January 20, 2012.
A family burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday in Llano Cemetery with Dr. Murray Gossett, Associate Pastor of First Presbyterian Church officiating.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Margaret Jane was born and raised in Houston, Texas.  She graduated from San Jacinto High School and attended the University of Texas at El Paso.  There she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority.  During World War II she worked at Lubbock Army Air Field.
Margaret Jane married S.O. “Bittie” Callahan III on December 26, 1942 in Amarillo and they celebrated 62 years of marriage.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Nora Polk Riordan and Frank Joseph Riordan, her brothers Bob and Frank Riordan, Jr. and husband, Bittie.
Margaret Jane was a past member of the Amarillo Jr. League and a member of the First Presbyterian Church.  She and her late husband had many friends and a much fulfilled life.
Survivors include a son, Simmie O. Callahan IV and wife Gayle of Amarillo, and daughter Jane Callahan of El Paso; her sister-in-laws Miriam Riordan of Dallas, and June Pipkin of Amarillo; three grandchildren, Simmie O. Callahan V and wife Leslie, Hunter Callahan of Houston, and Cody Callahan of Dallas.  She had one great-grandchild, Simmie O. Callahan VI; nieces Boo Pipkin of Amarillo, Gale Riordan Glenn of Woodland Park, CO; Susan Riordan Case of Anchorage, AK; nephews, John Riodan of Saco, ME, Phillip Riodan of Richfield, CT and many cousins.
The family suggests memorials be made to Ware Living Center, 400 West 14th Street, Amarillo, TX 79101 or to the charity of your choice.
