Lydia Grimaldo, 66, of Amarillo, Texas joined our heavenly Father on Sunday, January 24, 2021.

Rosary will be at 6:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel.   Mass will be at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at St. Mary’s Cathedral with Monsignor Joe Bixenman officiating.  Burial will be in Llano Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Lydia was Born on March 20, 1954 in Juarez, Mexico to Aristeo and Memoria Rios and was soon joined by five brothers that adored her.  She married the love of her life, Pablo Grimaldo, on January 29, 1972.  They were blessed with four daughters and one infant son.

Lydia was extremely loved and will be missed by many.  She had a servant’s heart and was often found crocheting blankets and various items to show her love.  Lydia was always the first to show up to help anyone in need. You could always count on her to have a homemade meal ready for any occasion or just to have food like no other. She never knew a stranger and was considered “Grandma” to many, while using her love of Christ she often mentored others.  She had a contagious laugh that was beautiful and will be missed significantly.  The love she showed for her family was great.  She made sure to show up for every activity for each of her children and grandchildren, enjoyed family game nights, and loved family gatherings.

Lydia loved God fiercely and whole-heartedly and must have had a joyful reunion as she was preceded in death by her infant son, father Aristeo Rios, grandfathers Don Julio and Tito, and grandmothers Felecita and Tita.

She is survived by her loving husband Pablo; mother Memoria Rios; four daughters:  Guadalupe Grimaldo, Margarita Delgado (and spouse Michael), Cindy Grimaldo, and Rachel Truman (and spouse Keith); 8 grandchildren:  Matt Grimaldo, Brandon Delgado, Briana Prieto, Lacy Vasquez, Lisa Vasquez, Joey Truman, Clarissa Truman, and Ryan Grimaldo; 6 great-grandchildren; five brothers:  Armando Rios, Jesse Rios, Teo Rios, Julio Rios, and Felix Rios; many nieces and nephews, and her best friend Lydia Alvarez (and spouse Joe).

The viewing will be on Tuesday, February 2nd beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Boxwell Brothers.  A celebration of her life will be held at a later date when everyone can come together safely.

The family kindly requests proper social distancing and masks be worn to keep everyone safe.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff at the BSA hospital for loving and caring for both Lydia and the family, and we want to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support that has been shown to the family.
