Louise Sistrunk Roden Brunson, 92, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013.
 
Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Rev. Jim Shelburne, pastor of Washington Avenue Christian Church, officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
 
Mrs. Brunson was born Dec. 22, 1920, in Ulan, OK to Alvin and Ollie Sistrunk.  Her family moved to Clarksville in 1933 when she was 13 years old.  In 1938 she met Sam Houston Roden and married him in April 1940.  They lived on a farm near Halfway.  She loved dressing up her four boys and going into Plainview to shop.  Mrs. Brunson lived in Amarillo many years and then retired from Albertson’s where she was the deli manager.
 
She loved to cook for her family and others.  She enjoyed purchasing her spring flowers and making her front porch a flower garden.
 
Mrs. Brunson was very proud of her boys and loved her extended family.
 
The family would like to thank the staff at Bivins Memorial for the love and care for their Mom.
 
She was preceded in death by a son, Sam Roden, Jr.; two sisters, Alberta Orr and Edith Trulock; a brother, Hugley Sistrunk; and twin baby brothers.
 
Survivors include her children, Gene and Ada Roden of Mesa, AZ, Jim Roden and wife Carol of Lake Whitney and Don Roden and wife Rosemary of Amarillo; a brother and sister, Cledith Harmon of Texas City, Alvin Sistrunk, Jr. of Hartshorne, OK; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
