Lorene Sessums – January 28, 2012

Lorene Sessums, 89, of Canyon died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, in Amarillo.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with Ralph Harmon of Seventh-day Adventist Church officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery.
Lorene was born January 1, 1923, in Blair, Okla., to Leonard Fleming and Goldie May Stayton. She married Elmer Merl Sessums on Nov. 29, 1959, in Hereford.
Lorene owned Fashions Drapery Shop in Amarillo, where she made drapes for the banks and hospitals in Amarillo. She also loved sewing and making quilts.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; sisters, Doris Turner and Leona Stayton; and a brother, Charles.
Survivors include five sisters, Wynell Thursby of Florida, Mary Jo Tuck, Betty Smith and husband Commie and Ouida Mandarville and husband John, all of Canyon, and Wanda Evans and husband Billy of South Carolina; a brother, James Stayton and wife Lynda of Amarillo; three stepchildren, Richard, Margie and Bobby; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012 at the funeral home.
