Lee R. Russell, 98, of Amarillo, TX died Monday, May 6, 2019.

Private family services were held.  Arrangements were by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd., Amarillo, TX.

Lee was born May 19, 1920, in McLean County, KY to Henry and Rosa Russell.  He served in the Army and was a veteran of WWII.  Seventy-seven years ago, Lee became an ordained minister. He pastored in Indiana, Illinois and Michigan and help start two churches.

Lee loved people and was a great encourager.  He never met a stranger and was dearly loved by his family.  Lee’s passion was gardening.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary; and son Chet.

Survivors include a daughter, Brenda and husband Jim; fifteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a few great-great-grandchildren.

  1. I had the privilege of serving as Pastor Russell’s youth pastor in the 80s. A true Christian gentleman who finished well. Thanking God today for his faithful example

  3. I loved uncle Lee Roy..he was an.inspiration to me and many others. The last time I saw him was in.Evansville at the Hilltopper Inn..Their specialty is fried pork brain sandwiches…I.am reading.his Grazing through Galatians right now. Very well written and researched.
