Kerry Dean Henslee – April, 7, 2012

Kerry Dean Henslee, 52, of Amarillo, formerly of Houston, died Saturday, April 7, 2012.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 14, 2012, at the Putney Family Farm in Carmine, the Rev. Mark Henslee of Lawton, Okla., Kerry’s cousin, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brother’s Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Kerry was an adventurer who loved to travel, build new things, fix old things, and excelled at many sports including baseball, football, bowling, track, ping-pong and horseshoes. He always had a helping hand for those less fortunate and always had room in his home and in his heart for stray people, dogs and cats: his dog, Dottie and cat, Scudder, will miss him.
Kerry was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Henslee of Houston.
Survivors include two sons, Brandon Henslee and Justin Henslee, both of Pinehurst; the love of his life LaNell Kelly of Amarillo; his father, C W Henslee of Houston; two sisters, Karen Mitchell and Lora Putney, both of Houston; a brother, Gale Henslee of Amarillo; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to ASPCA of Amarillo, 11901 S. Coulter St., Amarillo, TX 7911; or American Cancer Society, 3915 S. Bell St., Amarillo, TX 79109.
