Kenneth Lee Hanchett Hanson, 86, of Amarillo died on Tuesday, July 19, 2011.
A memorial gathering will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening at the Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Â Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Kenneth was born on January 18, 1925 in Grand Island, Nebraska to Clark and Hazel Hanchett. He served in the U.S. Navy as an electrician mate from April of 1943 to March of 1946 aboard the USS Tweedy and USS Steele in the Atlantic and Pacific. Kenneth holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Kansas City. He married LaFerne Scott on November 15, 1955 in Amarillo. Kenneth owned Citizen Finance Company for fifty-three years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Amarillo Club and Amarillo Dinner Club. He enjoyed golf, dancing and good food.
Survivors include his wife, LaFerne Hanchett Hanson of the home; a son, Michael Hanchett Hanson of New York, NY; a brother, Dale Hanchett of Wichita, Kansas and nieces, nephews and loving family.
