Kenneth “Ken” Lee Bright, age 86, of Amarillo, TX died August 7, 2020.
Graveside services will be in the Llano Cemetery at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 12, 2020. A memorial service will be planned for a later date. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Amarillo, TX.
Ken was born December 17, 1933 to Thomas Edgar Bright and Jimmie Urshul Sanderson Bright in Banning, California. Kenneth graduated from Tulia High School and served in the U. S. Army on Okinawa during the Korean War. He graduated from Texas Tech in 1960 with a degree in Industrial Engineering and worked for Phillips Copolymer Plant in Borger, TX for two years. He then worked at Pantex for 33 years, retiring in 1995.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Adult #7 Sunday School Class, and the Gideons International, Amarillo camp.
Ken was a lover of Jesus in this life, and confident to be with Him forevermore. He loved his family and friends dearly.
Ken was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Edgar Bright, on March 8, 1934; and by his mother, Jimmie Urshul Sanderson Bright, on November 13, 1971 and one brother Wayne Bright on November7, 1999;, and his brother-in-law Robert Mechem Johnson, on January 26,2001; and his sister-in-law Eunice Parker Bright, on December 13, 2015 and his sister Kathryn Vaunceil Bright Johnson of Pinole, CA on January 5, 2020.
Survivors include his wife, Ann; a daughter Jenne Labus and husband Vernon of Panhandle, TX, a son Gene Bruce and wife Cheryl of Estelline, TX; four grandchildren Matthew Stampfli and wife Heather, Leslie Bruce and wife Shirece, Lindsey Whitaker and husband Dusty, and Sara Labus; Great Grandchildren Cutter, Kross, Sterling, Quay, Kolt, Kage and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family suggests memorials be to the Gideons International, P.O. Box 2304, Amarillo, Texas, 79105; First Baptist Church, 1208 South Tyler St., Amarillo, TX 79101-4296; or to their favorite charity.
