Kay Marion (Hall) Cassetty, 73, of Las Vegas, NV died July 5, 2020.

Services will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 18, 2020, at First Baptist Church in Vega. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Vega, TX. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, Amarillo.

Kay was born on January 9, 1947 in Amarillo TX (along with her twin sister).  She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry “Pete” Palm Hall and Bessie “Becky” Marie (Wells) Hall, husband, Walter Leon Cassetty Jr, and twin sister Fay Marie (Hall) Tibbs (Lee Tibbs).  She is survived by daughters: Tina Kay (Cassetty) Chapman (Darren Chapman) of Las Vegas, NV, and Catherine Marie Cassetty-Baker (Geoff Baker) of Burnsville, MN, granddaughters, Jessica Marie (Chapman) Drake, Jazmine Marie Cassetty, and Ariel Kay Sims, brothers, Charlie Hall (Vega) and Raymond Hall (Amarillo), and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and co-workers.

Kay was raised with her twin sister and older brothers in Vega Texas where the Hall family owned and operated several businesses including a gas station, mechanic shop, restaurant, and hotel.  Small town life suited her, and she made many lifelong friendships.  Kay met Walt “Punk” in Vega, and they married on May 28, 1966.  Walter traveled for work, so the family moved often and lived in many different states in the Southwest and eventually settled in Las Vegas in 1998.  Her beloved “Punk” died in 2005.  Kay worked at MGM Resorts in Las Vegas for the past 20 years as a receptionist/administrative assistant at the corporate office. Everyone at the office called her “Mama Kay” because she was like a mother to everyone and helped them with anything they needed.   Prior to working at MGM, she was a licensed cosmetologist for many years, and loved making her clients beautiful.  Kay had a great sense of humor and loved making others laugh, you never knew what crazy comment she would make to make everyone laugh so hard they cried.  She loved country music, watching reality TV shows and Game Shows like “Let’s Make a Deal” and would shout at the contestants as they always chose the Zonk.  She had a very close relationship with her 2 daughters and 3 granddaughters and will be greatly missed!  She will be buried in Vega, Texas at the Memorial Park Cemetery alongside her husband, parents, and many relatives.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M.- 7:00 P.M., Friday, July 17, 2020, at First Baptist Church in Vega, TX.

  2. I know how much Kay missed her husband. She would tell me such wonderful stories (and of how handsome he was). She loved her family. I’d hear all about the trips to her daughter’s and about the grand-babies, and the new puppies they had gotten. She was one of my inspirations and a solid reason for my wanting to come to MGM. While as a supplier, she would greet me and was the kindest lady you’d every want to meet. RIP Kay. Going to miss that smiling face… I’m so happy you and your “handsome” husband are together again. XO God Bless.

She was warm and friendly and will be sorely missed by us all at MGM Resorts – customers and coworkers alike. She was proud of her family and spoke of them often and I know that she’s looking down on all of us and smiling and I can hear her laughter even now. Sending love and blessings to her family and friends in this time of tremendous loss. <3
