Katie Lynn Green – August 16, 2017

Scott Green’s girl, Hayes, McCay and Paityn Green’s sweet momma, Stephanie and Mike Moss’s daughter, Dirk, JT and Brad Petersen’s sister, Katie Lynn Green, went into the forever arms of her Father August 16, 2017.
Katie lived a life that truly embraced the fullness of joy that Jesus had given to her.  The Lord wove Katie together and presented her to us in Council Bluffs, IA on September 26, 1972. Through this He made her into a person that would always be a shelter for those in need of refuge.  Katie wiped away countless tears of those who hurt, put her arms around thousands of people in need of hugs and had endless words for those whom needed a touch from the King.  Words can never express how deeply Katie loved.  Her man, her kids, and her friends never went a day without knowing the goodness and kindness of God that daily flowed through her gentle spirit.  Even in death, she had a reach that went beyond what anyone could ever imagine.  Katie was 44 when she became reunited with her father who had previously joined Jesus at the age of 47.  Katie had a special place in her heart for her grandpa, John Vallinch, who had previously passed away and was preceded in death by Katie’s grandma, Cay Vallinch.  About 3 years ago, Katie and her family moved to Panhandle.  Since being there, they have been embraced like family from their church The River, Paityn’s school teachers and coaches, as well as their many, many friends that gathered around to battle with her when she began to get sick.  One word that seems to describe Katie by everyone that knew her is warrior.  Katie is a mighty warrior that has left a lasting legacy to be passed down from generation to generation.  She will always be loved.
Katie’s celebration will be held at Hillside Christian Church Auditorium, 6100 S. Soncy Rd., at 1:00 o’clock, Monday, August 21 and will be led by Scott and Katie’s Kingdom mentor and best friend Rick Trafton and Mark Urquhart.  Worship led by Bradley Graham.   Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

  1. I am sending love and prayers for courage and strength to Katie’s wonderful family. I only knew Katie through the amazing stories her mamma shared with many of us at hospice. I am sending extra love to you my Steph. Please know that I am here for you. I was able to be at Katie’s celebration and I now feel some cheated at not getting to know that precious spirit. With love, kathy

  2. Dearest Scott and family, what can I say to add to the beautiful expressions of love that have already been shared of how Katie impacted so many lives for Christ?
I know the Lord is so proud of His precious child Katie and so very proud of you and the way you cared for her. Your children have a beautiful heritage that will be passed on to many generations to come.
I am moved when I think of Katie fighting for teenagers souls, begging them to flee sin and to trust Jesus.
Katie brought laughter and joy to our family.
She had that extra zest for life that leaves a big empty place in our hearts.
God bless you and Hayes and Payton and sweet McKay, as you trust the Lord to turn this overwhelmingly loss to life and hope as we look forward to seeing Katie in glory.
    Victory in Jesus!

  4. Your testament to life lives on in your beautiful family. It seems like yesterday we were sneaking you into the Phi Delt parties. I will miss you. Your illness and devotion and faith in Christ set an example for us all. You lived big Miss Katie!

  5. At the rising of the sun and at its going down,
    we remember her.
At the opening of flowers (Sunflowers) and in the rebirth of Spring, we remember her.
At the blueness of the skies and in the warmth of summer, we remember her.
    As long as we live, she too will live;
for she is now a part of us, as we remember her.
When we are weary and in need of strength,
we remember her and the strength she exemplified.
When we have joys we want to share,
    we remember her.
As long as we live, she too shall live,
for she is a part of us.
Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Oh, death where is thy sting?
When you rise in the morning, give thanks to your Savior, for the day, for your life, for your strength. Give Him thanks for everything for it all belongs to Him. Nothing can touch us that does not go through His Hands first.
Touch not the poisonous firewater that makes you turn into a fool and robs your spirit.
When your time comes to die, don’t be like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when time comes they cry and pray for a little more time to live their life over again in a different way.
Katie never wished for this. She lived life to the fullest for her Savior, her husband, her children, family and her friends.
She died like a hero going home.

  6. I loved Katie and will miss her smiling face. She was always such an inspiration, warrior was a truly fitting description of how she faced her enemy. She was amazingly strong and I thank God He has made her victorious over Satan as she lives in glory with Him.

  7. “I have fought the fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.” ~2 Timothy 4:7-8
Katie Petersen Green, you will be dearly missed but in no way ever forgotten. Your kindness from the inside out was so special and I feel honored to have known you and been a friend. You, with your strength and faithfulness, have been the most fierce warrior and beautiful example of God on earth and for me, it was truly amazing to witness. Prayers to your beautiful family for strength, comfort and peace during this time and as time moves forward! Love you friend and welcome home to your eternity!! You are healed and whole, and we all know heaven has gained an incredibly special angel!

  8. Katie was a beautiful woman of God. Her smile filled a room. Love and prayers for this sweet family. She will be greatly missed.

  9. I knew Katie some 25 years ago. She was a young university student working at Wards and I was a “slightly” older university student also working at Wards. Even then Katie was a sweet sensitive soul. I’ve been thinking about her since last night and I honestly can’t remember her ever being hurtful toward another. Since I was “slightly” older, we talked school and boys and I tried to impart wisdom. But I think she lead me more than I lead her.
I am grateful for knowing her. Prayers for comfort.
    Love ~ Darenda Keeton
