He will be deeply and greatly missed!

Jose was born on May 15, 1948 in San Pedro Coahuila Mexico to Jose Alanis Sr and Maria Navarro. At the very young age of 18 he immigrated to the United States and lived in Bovina where he worked in farming and then at the meat packing plant in Friona.  He would later reside in Liberal Kansas and eventually end up in Cactus, Texas.  Jose’s work always consisted of hard work at the meat packing plants and finally retired from JBS at the young age of 63 after twenty years of service there. When Jose moved to Cactus, he met his beautiful wife while she worked at the Jacalito Store drive thru.  It was love at first sight. After their first date of dancing, they knew they were meant for each other, got married in 1993 and bought their first home together in 2017 after living several years in Cactus and Dumas, and finally moving to Amarillo to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Jose loved to grill, dance, laugh, and spend all of his time with his family.  He loved to watch Mexican Soccer and some Novelas too! Jose made sure to be present in everything that consisted of his family.

A special event to recognize of Jose is that he was immensely proud of moving to the United States as a permanent resident and becoming A United States Citizen in 1983! He loved to vote and was very proud of voting. He never missed a “Vote” and got to vote this year and was confident his vote mattered, and his voice was heard. When Noe Barron Jr and Angel Jimenez joined the United States Marine Corp, Jose was over the moon with pride and excitement.  He was proud of them and always talked about Noe every chance he got.

Jose was preceded in death by his mother, his father, and two sisters, Socorro and Teresa and one grandson Jessie Raymond Guillen.

He is survived by his wife Clara Alaniz, his stepchildren, Angie Ascencio and husband Pancho, Lupita Sanchez and fiancé Kelly Cooper and Krissy Villarreal.  His 10 grandchildren, Crystal Sanchez, Cryselda Barron, Jonathan Guillen, Noe Barron Jr and wife Toni, Alexa Guillen and Fiancé Adrian Pena, Christabel Guillen, Bella Sandoval, Lily Gonzales, Javian Hernandez, and Jayla Hernandez. His 9 great grandchildren, Malakai Rodriguez, Zechariah Rodriguez, Galeilea Sanchez, Geana Villegas, Kat Battey, Chloe Battey, Luna Guillen, Zaedance Timmons, and Zemerii Barron. His two unofficially adopted grandsons Angel Jimenez (Salina) and Alonzo Aragon (Rosemary). His two best friends, Jose Olivas (Burro), Daniel Frescas and Jaime Gonzales.  Along with several extended family and friends including a brother Sergio Alanis and two sisters Margarita Alanis and Gloria Alanis.  From a previous marriage four children, Teresa, Joe, Jessie, and Tito.

Jose’s life was filled with love and lots of family. He will forever be in our hearts.  Due to health and safety precautions the family requests masks to be worn.  In lieu of the traditional meal after the service the family will be at Furr’s Cafeteria, Jose’s favorite restaurant.
