Joe Frank Hawkins, 66, of Amarillo died on Monday, March 28, 2011.
Services will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mr. Hawkins was born on February 4, 1945 in Childress, Texas to Frank and Lena Hawkins.  He was a sports announcer his entire life and also wrote sports for the Dalhart Texan for years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Hawkins.
Survivors include his daughter, Misty Lechner of Dalhart; three grandchildren, Ryan Lechner, Samantha Turley and Zachary Lechner, all of Sunray; two great grandchildren, Kelley Turley and Kodee Turley.
The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 3915 Bell St. Amarillo, Texas 79109.
