JoAnn was born on July 15, 1937 in Amarillo, Texas to Lewis and Estelle Dowlen. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1956. She worked for the City of Amarillo in her early years and later became an accomplished real-estate agent with Della Dunn. Before retiring in 1975, she became a member of the elite MILLION DOLLAR CLUB.
After retirement JoAnn became passionate about gardening and had wonderful flowers and fountains throughout her yard. She loved travel but most of all she was a faithful and loving wife.
She is survived by her husband, John Wesley Crawford, for whom she was primary care giver to for the last 20 years. Still through her career and caring for her beloved husband, JoAnn found the time to help her grandchildren’s educational endeavors. She never gave up on the children’s ability to strive. She was a mother to everyone she met.
JoAnn has three daughters, Regina Faulkner and Dianna Doyle, both of Amarillo and Denise Riggs of Hot Springs, AR; three step daughters, Pat Crawford of California, Darlene Coburn of Tennessee and Cindy Simpson of Amarillo; one adopted daughter, Cindy Pfeiffer of Amarillo; seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Doris Salmon of Amarillo; many nieces and nephews and two grandogs.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts be made to a favorite charity.
