Joan Kathleen Clement-July 3, 2011

Joan Kathleen Clement, 89, of Kansas City, Missouri died Sunday, July 3, 2011 in Amarillo, Texas.
Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd.   Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2011 at Blessed Sacrament Church with Arturo Meza, Celebrant, officiating.  Burial will be at Llano Cemetery.
Joan was born February 13, 1922 in Kansas City, Missouri to Anna and Michael Plancarte.  She was a loving and treasured mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.
She married John Clement in 1945 and together they raised 11 children.
Joan did her part during World War II by serving at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal in Denver, Colorado and worked as a secretary for the military offices in Ogden, Utah.
She sang both in her church choir and with the Amarillo Opera.
Joan belonged to the Confraternity of Christian Mothers, and served on the Altar Society.
She made numerous Rosaries to be sent to foreign missions, and was very active in the Right to Life Movement.
She loved being a part of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas – Bl. Anna Marie Taigi-Court #2167.
She volunteered at her children’s school PTA and served on the school board.
She also volunteered at Catholic Family Services, working with abused women and children.  She impacted many lives with her loving heart, kind devotion, and strong faith.
She will be deeply missed and held lovingly in our hearts forever.
She was preceded in death by her husband John; son, Ronald “Billy” and sisters, Frances Romero and Lou Martinez.
She is survived by six daughters Carol Dean and husband Charlie of Plano, TX; Kathy Black of Amarillo; Janet Galbraith and husband Jack of Rogers, Arkansas; Pamela Gibson of Amarillo; Monica Scott and husband Russell of Amarillo; Geralyn “Geri” Toniolli and husband Jimmy of Amarillo; four sons, John Clement and wife Cherie of Moses Lake, Washington; Robert Clement and friend Nela; Donald Clement and Richard Clement, all of Amarillo; two brothers Angelo Plancarte and Joseph “Eddie” Plancarte, both of Lakewood, Colorado; two sisters, Josephine Franco of Arvada, Colorado and Marie Gillis of Littleton, Colorado; twenty-five grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to Blessed Sacrament Church, 2500 S. Bolton, Amarillo, TX 79103.
The family will be at 4211 Scotswood Dr., Amarillo, TX 79110.

  1. All my cousins, my thoughts and prayers are with you all. Your mom was a beautiful woman inside and out. I only have very fond memories of her. I will miss her deeply. I have comfort in knowing she is now in heaven watching over us. Much love to all of you.
