Jimmie Earl Smith, 72, of Amarillo, TX died Monday, July 15, 2019.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 18, 2019, at St. Stephen United Methodist Church with Dr. Jim Smith, Pastor Emeritus officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Jimmie was born July 17, 1946, in Wichita Falls, TX to Aubrey and Betty Smith. He was president of his graduating class at Silverton High School. Jimmie served in the US Army in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star and selected as Soldier of the Quarter.
He lived in Tulia, TX from 1975-1991, where he was the past-president of the Kiwanis and manager of the Ed Harris and Dicken Lumber companies. Later he was the credit manager at Canyon Drive Lumber in Amarillo. He also served as past-president of the Credit Union Association. Jimmie was a member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church.
He married Janet Morris on June 15, 1996, at First United Methodist Church in Dimmitt.
Survivors include his wife, Janet Smith, of the home; two sons, Jay Smith and wife Charlotte, of Tulia, and Lynn Hand and wife Laura, of Lubbock, TX; two daughters, Jenni McCaslin and husband Dennis, of Tulia, and Kami Smithson, of Amarillo; three brothers, Jim Reid and wife Sheila, of Amarillo, Dick Reid and wife Susie, of Midland, TX, and Gene Smith, of Grapevine, TX; two sisters, Nancy Fuston and husband David, of Childress, TX, and Rebecca Wheeler and husband Barry, of Silverton, TX; and 8 grandchildren, Britany, Caitlin, Baili, Jada, Logan, Jaci, Kati, and Caden.
