Jim H. Perkins – November 12, 2011

Jim H. Perkins, 85, of Amarillo, died Saturday, November 12, 2011.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Murray Gossett officiating.  Private entombment will be in Llano Garden Mausoleum.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mr. Perkins was born on October 30, 1926 in Georgetown, Texas to Lalarook and Thomas Doyle Perkins.  He joined the United States Navy at the age of 16 and fought in the Pacific Theatre.    He was a resident of Amarillo since 1945 and owned Jim Perkins & Associates Insurance.
Mr. Perkins hobbies included hunting, fishing, working with horses and cattle.
He was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church.  Mr. Perkins was on the Children’s Home board and was a Shriner.
Mr. Perkins was preceded in death by his wife, Gwen and son, Mark.
He is survived by his daughter, Dana and husband Carl Audia of Becket, MA.
The family would like to give thanks to Gaylyn Brown, Cassandra Kee and especially David McKay  for all they’ve done and suggests memorials to be made to Hospice Care of the Southwest, 6600 Killgore Dr., Suite 110, Amarillo, TX  79106 .
