Jewell Butler, age 91, of Washburn, TX, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 7, 2019.

Jewell was born March 2, 1928 in Farmersville, TX to J.H. and Mae Mills McMinn.  Jewell was a sibling of five brothers and sisters, George, Cecil, Ina Maria, and Ruthie. She and her husband Paul (Buddy) Butler, married October 20, 1950 in Clovis, NM. Her and Paul started their family in Amarillo, TX and they moved to Washburn, TX in 1960 where they raised their family and continued to live out their years.

She was a dedicated wife and mother.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and serving in her community church, gardening, sewing, and fishing in the mountains.

Jewell is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her four siblings; and children Iva Mae (Cheeta) Hamernick and Dene Butler.

Jewell is survived by her sons and their spouses, Jody and Carla Butler of Crowley, TX, Jimmy and Brenda Butler of Claude, TX, Tommy and Carol Butler of Canyon, TX; 16 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 11, 2019 at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd in Amarillo, TX, with Rusty Bradbury officiating. Private family graveside service will follow at Llano Cemetery.

  1. I’m glad i got to spend time with you during your last couple of years on this planet. I will never, ever forget the last big life conversation we had during my last visit to washburn, or the second-to-last one on my second-to-last trip up there – it was fun being adults together.     Our sympathies on the passing of your mother. At age 92 you must have many wonderful memories to reflect upon. What a blessing.
