Jeffrey Wallace Hellberg-March 2, 2011

Jeffrey Wallace Hellberg, 68, of Amarillo died on Wednesday, March 2, 2011.
A celebration of life service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 14, 2011 at the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd. with Dr. Murray Gossett, associate pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating.  Burial will follow at Hope Cemetery in Galesburg, Illinois in the late spring.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Jeff was born December 28, 1942 in Galesburg, Illinois.  He graduated from Sheffield High School in Sheffield, Illinois and received a B.A. from Knox College in Galesburg in 1964 where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity.  He earned his J.D. in 1967 from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.
He became a corporate attorney for Dresser Industries in Dallas from 1967-1972 and then became a senior attorney at LTV Corporation in Dallas from 1973-1980.  In 1981, he moved to Amarillo and became a partner in Underwood, Wilson Berry, Stein & Johnson until 1986.  From 1985-2004, Jeff was a partner with Hinkle, Hensley, Shanor & Martin with a transactional practice in corporate, securities, banking and business law for both private and public corporations. He was licensed to practice law in Texas, Colorado, and Illinois and was a member of the Texas State Bar Committees of Corporation Law and Securities Law and the Texas Association of Bank Counsel.
His past community participation included his memberships on the Board of Directors of High Plains Epilepsy Association (President), Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Amarillo (President), Children’s Learning Center (Treasurer, Vice President, and President), Amarillo Little Theatre (Treasurer), Planned Parenthood of Amarillo (Vice President), Young Men’s Christian Association, First Presbyterian Church, and the Society of Mayflower Descendants in the State of Texas (Counselor).
He is survived by his wife of twenty-two years, Susan Burns Hellberg; his brother, Jon Hellberg and wife Susan of Fort Worth, Texas; his sister, Janet Hosier and husband Thomas of Rochester, Minnesota; his children, Maria Hellberg Orr and husband Lee of Dallas, Texas, Jeffrey Wallace Hellberg, Jr. and wife Amanda of Dallas, Texas; his stepson, David Livingston Reynolds and wife Jody of Denver, Colorado; and a stepdaughter, Elizabeth Reynolds McDermott and husband Sean of Tiburon, California and nine grandchildren.
