Jean Whittington, 77, formerly of Amarillo, died Monday, September 12, 2011 in Houston.
Friends are cordially invited to gather with the family and share remembrances of Jean from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. in the afternoon on Friday, September 23, 2011 at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Jean was born on the 27th of July 1934, in Amarillo, Texas, to beloved parents James Patrick Whittington and Imogene McIntire Whittington.
Jean graduated from Amarillo High School and attended Highland University in New Mexico and The University of Texas at Austin. Following a long career with Braniff Airways, Jean’s final move was to Houston, Texas, to take care of her mother. Her beloved cousins (and their families) Betty Anny Hopper, Joanne Bergman, Sue Lawrence, Patricia Payne, Kathleen Carson, Diane Mason, Fred Whittington Hagaman, and Gail Crowder succeed her.
She will also be missed by extended family members and friends, who stood by her side and provided loving care for her daily (Jim and Diane Moore and daughters, Michael and Sharon Evans and daughters, Patrick Carter, Craig Green, Debbie Bryant, Loretta Johnson, Doug and Lahoma Mack, and many others). Jean, aka “Jeanie” and “Jeanie Bug,” will be remembered mostly for her unique sense of humor and her enormously kind heart.
In lieu of customary remembrances, contributions in honor of Jean may be directed to a charity of one’s choice.
