Jean Ware, 88, of Amarillo, died Saturday, August 6, 2011.
Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church with The Reverend Jo Roberts Mann officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mrs. Ware was born on November 17, 1922 in Enid, OK to Paul and Martha Hill. She was a past president of the Junior League and Beta Sigma Phi Woman of the Year. She was a member of the Garden Club, St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church where she served on the Altar Guild; and was on the steering committee to bring Goodwill Industries to Amarillo. Mrs. Ware did a lot of volunteer work in the community and was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and wife.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, James Hill; son, Joe Day Ware; sister, Marjorie Scheffer; and her husband Charles R. Ware.
The family wishes to express special thanks to her caregivers, Maria, Madi, Laura, and Nancy.
Survivors include her daughter, Margaret Ware Smith and husband Wendell of Amarillo; grandchildren, Trent Moore and wife Ashley of Jackson Hole, WY, Ryan Moore of Amarillo, Monica Thompson and husband Kirk of Missouri City, TX; great-granddaughter, Claire Thompson of Missouri City, TX; and daughter-in-law, Susan Ware of Amarillo.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 1601 S. Georgia, Amarillo, TX 79102; or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 415 SW 8th Ave # 300, Amarillo, TX 79101.
