Jean R. Hamilton, 83, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Dick Marcear, minister, officiating. Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. at Westlawn Memorial Park on the Fritch Highway. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Jean was born Aug. 28, 1929, in Texola, Oklahoma to Elmer and Bessie Renner. She married G.M. “Cotton” Davis in May of 1950. After moving to Borger she and Cotton had four children who loved her dearly. Cotton passed away in February of 1974. Jean then moved to Amarillo in 1979 and married Gilbert Hamilton. Gilbert passed away in 1994. Jean worked and retired from the civil service after 30 years.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Terry Davis; and four brothers.
Survivors include two sons, David L. Davis and wife Mary of Lubbock and Gerald W. Davis and wife Glinda of Amarillo; a daughter, Becky Wheeler of Amarillo; nine grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
