J.W. Johnson, Jr., 88, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012 at South Plains Church of Christ in Lubbock with Duane Johnson officiating.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mr. Johnson was born Dec. 16, 1923 in Lazare to J.W. and Tressie Johnson.  He married Pauline Allen on Aug. 26, 1943.  He joined U.S. Navy in 1942, returned to Lubbock to become an electrician and later moved to Lamb County to farm.  He retired from farming and moved back to Lubbock in 2001.  He had moved to Amarillo in 2011 to live with his daughter and son-in-law.  Mr. Johnson was a member of the Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pauline Johnson; a son, John Johnson; a grandson, Craig Johnson; a sister, June Williams; and his parents.
Survivors include a daughter, Kay Campbell and husband John of Amarillo; four grandchildren, Chris Johnson and wife Dana of Bartlett, TN, John Cooper and wife Susan of Round Rock, Neil Ballard of Lewisville, and Jennifer Lehrmann and husband Jeff of Amarillo; and five great-grandchildren.
