White, Janet Obit PicJanet Marie White, 69, of Plano, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2015.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, Jan. 16, 2015, at Boxwell Brothers Memorial Chapel in Dumas.  Burial will follow at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas, 500 N. Maddox Ave.

Janet was born July 11, 1945, in Amarillo, to Dudley and Ardelle Smith.  Janet graduated high school from Channing.  She married Otis White and they were the proud parents of a son and a daughter, Otis D. White of Denton, and Karissa White of Plano.

Janet enjoyed cooking, eating, gardening and her dogs.  She had an extraordinary green thumb.  Her greatest love besides her two children was spending time with her only grandchildren Grace and Owen White and watching their sporting events.  There was never a doubt when she was at a Volleyball or Baseball Game.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Francis and Carolyn, and husband Otis White.

Survivors include her daughter Karissa; her son, Otis; a daughter-in-law, Kimberly; grandchildren, Caroline Grace, Michael Owen White; and a niece Vicki McGinnis.

The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73123-1718; or the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, Florida 32256.

  1. We certainly do remember all the fun times we had with Janet and Otis as you kids were growing up, memories no one can take away. Janet was truly a remarkable person, you didn’t have to wonder what she was thinking as she told you, always a smile for all. Thoughts and prayers are with all.

    My deepest sympathies to both of you and your families. I have so many memories of Janet while I was growing up. I didn’t get to see her often the last few years but she always had a hug and caring words to say every time I saw her. May you find comfort and happiness in your memories of her. She will live forever in your hearts. Take care! Love you!

  4. Our love and sympathy to Karissa and all of Janet’s loved ones. She was a wonderful lady, and our memories go way back. Dudley and Ardelle were our neighbors for years there on Phillips Drive. Karissa was a special friend and student in High School.

  5. Vic and I extend our condolences to Janet’s family. We thought very highly of Janet, and loved her for loving our dogs, particularly Betsy. We will miss her, and hope your family finds peace and comfort knowing she no longer suffers.
