James W. Tipping, 69, of Dumas, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at Boxwell Brothers Memorial Chapel, 500 N. Maddox., with Tom Armstrong, minister, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas.
James was born on Jan. 13, 1943 in Corsicana to Willard Jim “Tip” and Evelyn Tipping. He graduated from Seminole High School. He retired from Valero as a supervisor. James was a member of the Early V8 Ford Club where he had served as president for many years and the Antique Automotive Club. He was also a member of the Ninth and Bliss Church of Christ.
He married Pat Lewellen on July 19, 1963 in Seminole.
James was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Charles Tipping.
He is survived by his wife Pat Tipping of Dumas; a son, Rodney Tipping and wife Shannan of Casa Grande, AZ; a daughter, Jamie Slater and husband Lance of Dumas; three brothers, Edward Tipping of Millsap, TX, Larry Tipping of Mansfield, TX, Bobby Tipping of Amarillo; a sister, Dianna Henderson of Lamesa, TX.; and four grandchildren, Mark Martinez, Page Slater, Connor Tipping, and Zackary Slater.
