James Monroe Puckett, 69, of Amarillo, TX died Wednesday, April 8, 2020.

James was born September 29, 1950, in Naples, TX to Jessie James Puckett and Lola Elizabeth Hornbuckle Puckett. He graduated from James Bowie High School in Simms, TX. James was a member of The Church of God in Simms, TX.

He is preceded in death by his moma and papa; his brother-in-law, Kerry Lee (Doc) Bills, and another brother-in-law, Calbert Rex Reed.

James is survived by 2 loving sisters, Pamela Sue Bills of Amarillo, TX and Elizabeth Diane Reed of Dallas, TX; 4 nephews, Rev. Shawn Dewayne Thrapp and wife Tonya of Longansport, LA, Jessie Lee McClenan and wife Jennie, BJ McClenan, Christopher Allen Reed, all of Amarillo, TX; 3 nieces, Melissa Diane Reed, Angie Renee Fredericks, and Christy Ann Fredericks, of Dallas, TX; and  Uncle James Hornbuckle and wife of Odessa, TX; several great-nieces and nephews, and lots of cousins and friends.

Due to the pandemic, we will gather together at a later time to celebrate James’ life and if anyone feels led to give, the family suggests in lieu of flowers to donate to cancer research or your favorite charity. Thank you and God Bless you.

He sure will be missed thinking about all the memories as we get together and talk about him, he was definitely a family man.  His love for family was amazing.  We have funny memories of his unique cooking style with that extra seasoning. He was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys, western movies with John Wayne, and watching wrestling.  His true passion was the livestock industry.
