James Avery – April 4, 2012

James Avery, 71, of Amarillo, passed away Wednesday April 4, 2012.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 9, 2012 at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Kurt Oheim, pastor of Pinnacle Community Church officiating.  Burial will be in Llano Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
James was born in Coleman, TX on October 23, 1940.  His family moved to Amarillo at the age of six, and he graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1959.  James owned  a number of businesses in Amarillo, including Standard Vending and Bailey’s Shed.  One of his favorite activities was to travel to Dallas and around the nation to see his grandkids and watch his grandson, Devin, play baseball.  His loving wife, Mary Beth Avery always by his side.  James had a huge heart for family and friends, whom he held dear and near.
James was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Bobbie Knight; and one brother, Jake Avery.
He is survived by wife Mary Beth Avery;  daughter Lori Francis and husband Frank of Lewisville;  son Bret Avery and wife Alicia of Amarillo; daughter Kim Shreffler and husband Rick of Amarillo; ten grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother Charles Avery of Amarillo; many nieces and nephews; and many great, lifelong friends.
The family suggest memorials be to Khiva Memorial Fund Mail to: Khiva Shrine PO Box 328 Amarillo, TX 79105.
Visitation will be at the home on Saturday, April 7, 2012, from 6pm to 8pm.
