Jack Garrison Bartlett – August 11, 2011


Jack Garrison Bartlett, 93, of Amarillo, died on Thursday, August 11, 2011.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 15, 2011 at the Park Place Towers Parlor with Alan Williamson officiating.  Burial will be in Anson.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Jack was born on November 11, 1917 in Anson.  His parents were Ethridge “E.G.” and Maggie Spraberry Bartlett.
He attended school in the Harmony Community and Anson.
His first job was with Corley Furniture in Anson.  Then he attended Aviation Repair School in Inglewood, CA.  After completing training he worked for North American Aviation, building B-25 bombers.  He also was employed by Chance Vought and Temco.
Jack joined the Navy in 1942 and attended boot camp in Farragut, Idaho.  On completion of school he was stationed at a naval air base near Oklahoma City and later transferred to the Naval Air Station in Pungo, VA.
Following discharge from the Navy he went to work for Convair Aviation in Fort Worth.  He later returned to Anson and worked in Abilene for the Abilene State School, the Valley View Nursing Home in Anson and the Marbridge Foundation as director of a girls home in Abilene.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, W.C.
Survivors include a brother, Harry Bartlett of Amarillo and several cousins.
