Mr. McDaniel was born Aug. 16, 1927, in Hayden, NM to Lee and Pauline McDaniel. He married Jimie Lewis on Nov. 4, 1951, in Amarillo. After he was discharged from the Army he went to work for Graybar Electric Company. He rapidly advanced through the ranks into management. Through his company, he won numerous trips abroad and enjoyed traveling extensively with his wife, Jimie.
Mac enjoyed gardening, especially tending to his roses and tomatoes. Golf and tennis were passions. He taught his sons how to play both sports and enjoyed playing with his family and friends. He was an excellent grill master and everyone looked forward to his outdoor cooking and the panache with which he presented it!
Mac was a very social person and loved entertaining family and friends in his home. He and Jimie enjoyed dancing together and spent many Saturday evenings on the dance floor with close friends.
He was an eternal optimist, always looking forward to the next adventure – a trip abroad, a high school reunion, or a visit with his children and their friends.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Jimie McDaniel, of the home; two sons, Larry McDaniel of Richardson and Chris McDaniel and wife Kelly of Fredericksburg; two daughters, Brenda Messer and husband Rick of Leavenworth, KS and Carol Forbes and husband David of Mobile, AL; a sister, Rosalie Hale of Midland; eleven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
