Henry Andrew Longhofer – February 23, 2012


Henry Andrew Longhofer, 82, of Amarillo, died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012.
At Henry’s request there will be no funeral held.  Cremation and arrangements are being handled by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Henry was born Oct. 30, 1929, in Shattuck, Okla. to Andy Longhofer, Jr. and Dollie Babitzke Longhofer. He moved with his parents to Lipscomb in 1934.  He attended grade school in Lipscomb, high school in Darrouzett, and Amarillo College in 1957-1958.
Drafted into the U.S. Army on March 31, 1951.  He was a Private First Class and Radio Operator in the Korean War.  He served until honorable discharge on March 11, 1953.  He received the Korean Service Medal with one bronze star and the United Nations Service Medal.
He worked and retired from Sears Roebuck & Co. after 31 years as a Warehouse Manager in Amarillo and Assistant Distribution Manager in Lubbock.
He married Lucille Carol Mauck on July 18, 1953, in Bowie.  Since April 1, 1962, they have been faithful members of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Amarillo.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Viola Thompson.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille Longhofer; two sons, Terry Andrew Longhofer and Timothy Gene Longhofer; two grandchildren, Timothy Luke Longhofer and wife Sharra, and Natalie Brooke Lewis and husband Darrell; and two great-grandchildren, Knox Andrew Longhofer and Carlton Jace Lewis.  He is further survived by three sisters, Etta Bechthold, Della and Warty Hundley, and Maudine Fiel; and a brother, Frank and Marlene Longhofer.
