Harry Leftwich “Hal” Marsh, born July 10, 1932 and died February 3, 2019.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 7, 2019, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Hal was born in Clovis, New Mexico, the son of Harry L. and Dorothy Birkensted Marsh.  He graduated from Slaton High School in 1950.  He received a Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree with majors in Journalism and English in 1954 from ENMU.

He served in the US Army from October 1954 through September 1957 in Tulle, France.  On release from active duty, he worked for the Kermit (TX) News, the Janesville (WI) Daily Gazette, the Farmington (NM) Times, before joining the staff of the Amarillo newspapers in September 1963.  During his 17-year tenure at the Globe-News, he served as reporter, City Hall reporter, Potter County reporter, Assistant City Editor, and City Editor of the Sunday News Globe.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Helen Lois Fry and Marjorie Paci; and two brothers, James W. Marsh, and Donald B. Marsh.

Hal is survived by a son, Jonathan Marsh, of Dallas; three daughters, Michelle Hanks, of Spring Lake, MI, Pamela Marsh, of Amarillo, and Clio Bushland of Sun Prairie, WI; and 4 grandchildren.
