Flores Obit PicGuadalupe Martinez Flores went to be with her Lord and Savior on Oct. 17, 2013.
Prayer service will be at 5:00 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013, in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with the Rev. Armando Tijerina officiating.  Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m., Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with Father John Valdez as celebrant.  Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Lupe Flores, as she was known by those she knew and loved, was born on Aug. 20, 1927, in Pearsall, TX, to Adolfo and Natividad Flores.  In 1945, she married Carlos Tijerina, Sr.  They moved to Hereford, TX in 1950.  Together they had six children.
She worked in the school system here in Amarillo for 20 years as a custodian.  Lupe enjoyed music, dancing, sewing and gardening.  She always had a smile and a hug for everyone she loved.  She believed in treating everyone as you would like to be treated.  She was a blessing to all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Adolfo and Natividad Flores; four brothers; two sisters; her husband, Carlos Tijerina, Sr.; and a son, Carlos Tijerina, Jr.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary Alvarado and husband, Domingo of Friona, Mary Jane Ortiz and husband Raymond of Amarillo and Olivia Padilla and husband Rosendo of Las Cruces, NM; two sons, Armando Tijerina and wife Janie of Amarillo and Hector Tijerina and wife Rosie of Hereford; 43 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
