George “Duane” Remling, 69, of Amarillo died Friday, Sept. 7, 2012.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at First Baptist Church in Guymon, Okla. Cremation arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Duane was born Jan. 24, 1943, to George and Erna Remling. He was raised on the family farm north of Optima. He married Ann Skillings in November 1962.
Duane was always busy, working in the oilfield for years and working as a mechanic. In 1985, he started his own business, Remling Automotive. Later, he owned Hoot Owl Express, where they mainly hauled out of Seaboard and National Beef.
After retirement, he had many hobbies to keep him busy, which included motorcycling, hunting, fishing and spending time with his sons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Erna Remling; and a brother, Jerry Remling.
Survivors include his wife, Ann; four sons, Rodney and wife Nancy of Caldwell, Idaho, Rick and wife Melissa of Boone, Iowa, Richard and wife Janet of Evansville, Ind., and Roger of Amarillo; six grandchildren; and a sister, Grace Ann Remling of Billings, Okla.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to Arden Road Baptist Church Mission Fund, 6701 Arden Road, Amarillo, TX 79109.
